Receipts for payments to enumerators hired under the Census Act of 1901 (chapter 3 of the 1901 extraordinary session of the General Assembly). Enumerators were to obtain the name, age, color, sex, place of birth, literacy, and length of residence of each individual in his respective subdivision in order to clarify discrepancies in the federal census of 1900. Also includes a brief census table indicating the number, sex, and voter status of those polled. Payment slips list name, number of days employed, ward, and amount earned. Some receipts notarized. Enumerators' payments arranged by county. Returns are not extant.
